Protest stage in India against attack on religious sites in SriLanka

Multi religious leaders in Chennai stage protest to stop attack carried out against the minority community people in SriLanka.

There more than 3000 Hindu kovils, more than 400 Christian churches and Muslim mosques were destroyed, catholic priests were murdered in country and also death threats have been made against the bishop of Mannar district, said the protesters.

Multi religious Tamil people stage protest against such activities in SriLanka at Chennai today.

Head of the Tamil Nadu bishop association Rev.Fr.A.M.Chinnappa lead the protest today.

Transitional government parliamentarian Saraswathi, Pandimadevi was also present at this protest.

Senior leader of the Tamil Nadu Muslim development organization Jadhar Ali, South Indian Catholic bishop Devasagayam, Indian independent bishop Dvid, bishop Prakash, National Leak leader Basheer Ahamed, Indian Dawgeeth Jamahath leader S.M.Paker, Mohama Muneer,Ulunthoor Pettai Appasuwai hall head Sivanana Theysigan Suwamikal, head of the Indian Popular Brand organization Issmayil, head of the Christian Alliance Victor Dharmaraj, Indian Catholic party leader Nathan and fathers, sisters and members from various organization were also present at this protest.

During the time of protest protesters urge Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa to protect human rights in the country.

Protesters also burnt the effigy of president Rajapaksa. Police cleared the burnt effigy from the site.

They also stressed Indian government to inform united nation about sorrows faced by the Lankan Tamil people in their country.

Protesters condemn the activities of Lankan president.

During the time of protest protesters announced they have already informed pope Benedict XIV about the attacks carried out against the catholic religious sites in the country.
