People defeated Tamil Eelam demand in the East - Minister Dullas Alahaperuma

Minister Dullas Alahaperuma announced two to third majority of people have defeated Tamil Eelam demand in the eastern province.
Minister made this statement addressing gathering at Horana recently. 27 percent of Sinhala nationals are residing in the Eastern Province. 67% of Tamil people and four percent of Sinhala people are residing in the Batticaloa district.
Only 31% people have casted their votes towards Tamil National Alliance. 69% people have casted their votes towards government. This clearly proves two to third majority of people have defeated the Tamil Eelam demand in this country said the minister.
Deputy leader of the Vavuniya Municipal council M.M.Rathan stated by lighting lamps in the Wellamulliwaikal and Karaiyan Mulliwaikal people paid their respect to civilians killed in the final stage of war in year 2009. [More]
