Buddhist monks are not permitted to enter parliament: Asgiriya Chapter

Chief Incumbent of the Asgiriya Chapter most Ven. Udugana Budhharakitha Thera stated Buddhist monks are not permitted to enter parliament and engage in the politics.
Thera also point out by engaging in the politics Buddhist monks would gain bad name to the Buddhism and for their own personality.
Without entering to the parliament monks will be able to advise devotees. While staying in the temple they would be able to advise politicians on ruling of this country.
Asgiriya Chapter further said without entering to the parliament Buddhist monks would be able to do massive service to this society.
