Gotabaya is the next Prime Minister - Colombo media reports

Due to the illness of Prime Minister D.M.Jayaratne president Mahinda Rajapaksa has decided to appoint Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa has next prime Minister of the country, Colombo sources said.

Prime Minister recently returned to country after receiving special treatment at Mount Elizabeth hospital in Singapore. Doctors informed the president due to the health condition Prime Minister unable to return to duty.

Recently president Rajapaksa took various steps to make changes in the cabinet. But due to the problems rose on appointing new individual as Prime Minister of this country president postponed this decision.

However since end of the three provincial council elections president has decided to appoint Gotabaya Rajapaksa has next Prime Minister of this country.

Since end of the London tour president returned to country on day before yesterday and hold special discussion this regard with officials maintains close relationship with president Rajapaksa.

High Ranking official of the state bank, senior lawyers and brother of president Rajapaksa was also present at this discussion.

Maithripala Sirisena and Nimal Siripala De Silva are the senior members of SriLanka Freedom Party. During the time of discussion president announced he cannot trust these senior Ministers.

President also said Shiranthi and Namal Rajapaksa not interested to appoint Basil and Chamal Rajapaksa has Prime Minister of this country.

In such situation I would like to appoint Dinesh Gunawardene but evidence provided by the Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa clearly proves that he has involved in various corruptionactivities.

During the time of discussion officials advised president the final decision should not affect the political career of Namal Rajapaksa.

President accept the advise and went on to say Shiranthi Rajapaksa and his three sons interested appoint Gotabaya Rajapaksa has next Prime Minister of this country.

During the time of discussion it was decided to evacuate name of Janaka Bandara from the national list and appoint Goatabaya Rajapaksa as nationalist parliamentarian and appoint as Deputy Minister of City Development, Buddhist and Cultural Affairs.

President also said he hopes to evacuate names of Malani Fonseka, Kamala Ranathunga, J.R.P.Sooriyapperuma and Professor Rajiva Wijayasinghe from national list and some other members to the party.

President also decided to appoint new External Affairs Minister.
