At a press conference in Colombo JVP politburo member Anura Kumara Dissanayaka added that the Government and the SLMC are involved in playing race politics for the sake of getting votes.
The Eastern Province comprises a good balance of different races and the Elections were the perfect setting to set an example for the rest of the country, he added. Dissanayake added however that the manner in which the Government, SLMC and the TNA conducted their propaganda gave rise to a situation where one race was pitted against one another.
