The governing UPFA party secured the most number of votes in the final result of the Eastern Province with 200,044 votes securing 14 out of the 37 seats, in the Provincial Council elections concluded recently.
Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK) won 11 seats after securing 193,827 votes while the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) won 7 seats with 132,917 votes. The UNP and the National Freedom Front won 4 and 1 seats respectively.
The UPFA managed to secure 31.58% of the votes in the Eastern Province polls while ITAK was slimly behind managing to gain 30.59% of the votes. |
