Assistant Director of the Badulla Disaster Management Centre E.L.M. Udayakumara said that the fire had erupted last evening.
The fire at the Galkanda Forest Reserve had been contained at around 10 last night with help of the Fire Department attached to the Badulla Provincial Council.
However, E.L.M. Udayakumara said that the fire at the Alugalla forest could not be brought under control.
Meanwhile, the fire that erupted in the Kottagala area in Nuwara Eliya has been contained.
Nuwara Eliya District Secretary D.P.G.Kumarasiri said that the fire had been brought under control with the help of the wildlife officials and officers attached to the Disaster Management Centre.
He went on to say that around 20 acres of land has been damaged due to the fire. |
