The Minister of Plantation Industry and Presidential advisor on human rights affairs Mahinda Samarasinghe together with several Lankan government experts prepared this brief report.
Final report hand over to the president Mahinda Rajapaksa on 14th of July, officer of plantation industry ministry said.
SriLankan Deputy Commissioner to United Nation Human Rights Council in Geneva would hand over this report towards UNHRC commissioner Navi Pillai today.
UBR investigation session of UN Human Rights Council scheduled to commence on first week of November. Group of Lankan delegated headed by the Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe would take part in this session.
Commenting this regard the minister of plantation industry Mahinda Samarasinghe went on to say , within the past few months we have prepared the report and schedule to hand over towards UN Human Rights Commission today.
This reports brief about development programmes carried out end of the war, resettlement activities, facilities provided to the resettled people, infrastructure facilities of the government in the war affected areas, rehabilitation programme, proposals of LLRC recommendations and also the development activities in the war affected areas.
This report especially brief about the steps which have been taken by the government to protect human rights of people in this country due to this report would be submitted to UN Human Rights Council. During the 2008 UBR session we informed that we will introduce special programme in the country to protect the human rights of people.
This year URB session would commence on first of November. Experts from the various streams helped us to prepare this report said the Minister.
