Doctors attached to the Jaffna Base hospital stage one day strike on urging officials to transfer Mrs. Bawani Pasubathiraja director of the Jaffna hospital.
Investigations carried out by the Ministry of health clearly proves that Director has involved in the corruption activites in the hospital compound but officials fails to issue transfer order against her.
This protest was organized by the Government medical officers. Protest began at 9.30 am in front of the hospital premises and urges to hold investigations against threats made against the doctors and urge police to provide security for doctors of the government medical union.
They raised slogans which contains “crude oil attack would be carry out when voice raise against the corruptions” “Administration which corrupt the money of patients need to be evacuated” “Corrupted director Bawani need to evacuated”Doctors continue their protest till 10.30 am. They also stated health ministry responsible for inconveniences faced by the patients in the hospital.
Protest commence at 9.30 am would continue till 4.00pm GMO announced. Doctors also decided to stop private clinics this evening.
