The Department of Fisheries said that sixteen fishermen who were arrested for entering India's ocean border are still in the custody of Indian security units.
According to Assistant Director Lal de Silva, of the sixteen arrested, five fishermen who were being held in Chennai have been released and will return to the country next week.
Meanwhile, eleven more Sri Lankan fishermen are in custody in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The department said that they are working to free the fishermen as soon as possible.
