Vijiyan is one of the 131 former Tamil Tiger rebels who are determined to represent Sri Lanka in sports. The group of former rebels were in the capital Colombo recently for a special selection program to recognize their skills in sports.
In the program initiated by the Sports Ministry, the country's leading sports trainers and coaches were busy selecting former rebels to be trained for 12 selected sporting events such as shooting, volleyball, foot ball, badminton, swimming, athletics, weight lifting, karate, kabadi, cricket, chess and carom , Xinhua news reports. |
