Pakistan Defence secretary schedule to visit SriLanka tomorrow

Secretary Defence Lt Gen (Retd) Asif Yasin Malik will visit Sri Lanka from August 7 to hold discussion and further strengthen ties between the two friendly countries.

During his stay in Colombo till August 11, Asif Yasin will also address Defence Seminar 2012 being organized by the Sri Lankan Army under theme of “Towards Lasting Peace and Stability” from August 8 to 10.

According to a press release of the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo on Monday, Major General Ghulam Qamar and Brigadier Hamayun Aziz of Pakistan Army will also be attending the seminar.

During the course of the said seminar, two Pakistani defence equipment manufacturing firms will also be exhibiting their products.

Since independence, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have consistently maintained close, cordial and mutually supportive relations, especially in the field of defence.

Both the nations have assisted each other during testing times in their histories.
