Customs Superintendent Nihal Alahepperuma, officer-in-charge of the Anti-Narcotics Bureau said the drugs had been concealed in two cans of shaving foam in the possession of two Iranian nationals who flew in from Doha, Qatar.
He added the two suspects were carrying a total of 1.8 kg of the drug, and were attempting to exit from the green channel, claiming that they had nothing to declare.
The drug had been identified as ‘Methamphetamine,’ which is a very addictive stimulant.
The two Iranians who are 28 and 42 years of age, according to investigations.
Alahepperuma said the two suspects were arrested and being questioned. However, due to their poor knowledge of English the Customs officials had requested the assistance of the Iranian Embassy. |
