6 school students disappeare​d in Hatton

A complaint has been lodged with the Hatton Police regarding the disappearance of six students from a girls’ school in Hatton.

The missing girls are said to be Grade 11 students age between 13-19 who were staying at the school’s hostel.

Meanwhile police say it has received information that the group of students in question had boarded a Kandy-bound train at around 5 a.m today from Hatton.

These students are residents of Nuwara Eliya and Ginigathhena areas. Police hold further investigations on this disappearances.

Myself and two other individuals would take care of security of students at the hostel. Normally we will close the main entrance of the hostel.

However on last night girls have used duplicate key to open the main gate of the hostel.

We have lodged a complaint at the police.

When we contacted officer of the railway department he stated these students have purchase ticket for Kandy. Later on one of the girls escaped from the hostel has contacted her parents from the phone and informed that they all are in a safe place and also said not to carry out search operations.

If anyone knows further details about these girls please contact us.

Police media spokesman stated later on we received information’s about 6 girls escaped from the school hostel in Hatton.

One of the girl has visited to her house in Ampara and the other five girls informed their parents that they are currently in a house of their friend at Minneriya.
