United National Party members today walked out of the parliament opposing to the 18th political constitutional reform. Prime Minister T.M.jayaratne today submitted in parliament the 18th constitutional reform. [
Cabinet forwarded a legal act in regard to the 18th political constitution to the Supreme Court, and the verdict given by the Supreme Court was read today at the Parliament. [
President Mahinda Rajapakse said, through the new constitutional reforms, the President’s powers will be systemized. He said, the constitutional amendments were originated according to the aspirations of the people and by the inclusion of peoples’ opinions. [
A case had been filed against the high police officer for the allegation of granting support to the TamiL Eelam Liberation tiger movement. The police officer named, Darwood Mohamed Ajmeer attached to the Kalutara Police training College had been charged and a case was filed against him at the Gampaha High Court. [
